I have photographed two subspecies of the American Oystercatcher (Haematopus palliatus). I photographed Haematopus palliatus palliatus in Florida and Haematopus palliatus galapagensis, which took up residence in the Galapagos and never left (and why would it?). To the right of the American Oystercatcher on Fernandina Island in the Galapagos is a marine iguana that blends in incredibly well with the volcanic rock.
