New Kitchen Cabinets

I  absolutely love my new kitchen cabinets. I ordered them from Tuscan Hills Cabinetry via Costco. They are all hardwood with maple exteriors. The majority of the wall cabinets have window type doors so I can display my Fiestaware. The cabinets have a couple of nice features including a pullout cabinet that has a trash can and recycling bin inside it. There is also a tall pull out pantry cabinet.

  1. Your kitchen looks great! I have been looking at Costco’s cabinets deliberating over the ‘all wood’ or ‘Tuscan hills’ Can you email your experience of Tuscan Hills and their price points. Also your experience with buying them through Costco. I can’t find any reviews of either line of cabinetry online and this is a huge investment.

    Paige

  2. Geekygirl, I’m so glad to have stumbled upon your pictures! I am in the design process with Tuscan Hills, for our kitchen remodel. It’s great to see pictures of some of the same cabinets I am hoping to order, so thank you for posting them! Information/feedback on Tuscan Hills is not easily found on the web. Your cabinets look very nice. Is that the Venice style door? What color is the stain? The Venice door in Maple Sand is currently on Promotion, but I switched to the Ravenna door in Naturale, because I wanted a completely flat door, and also I didn’t like the color of the small sample I received of the Maple Sand. Now, I’m wondering if the small sample color was true/accurate. I have ordered a full door in Ravenna/Naturale, and it should arrive any day. But the cost is higher because I chose a door that is not on Promo.
I also collect FW, and have had them behind glass doors in my old kitchen, but the new kitchen has fewer upper cabs, so now my dishes will be in a drawer, oh well!
Paige – I can tell you that my short experience working with Tuscan Hills has been tedious – I have only gotten this far in the design/bid process by my persistence. They are very friendly, but seem understaffed.
    Good luck!

    • The cabinet door style is Carmen. They are maple in a caramel stain. As I recall, the small sample they sent me was a good representation of what the final cabinets looked like. All the glass door upper cabinets are there mainly to show off my Fiestaware. I love how the colors make the kitchen more colorful and brighter. The glass doors also make the kitchen feel bigger. Some of the pieces in the kitchen are custom pieces, so I don’t think the promos would have even applied, but I honestly don’t remember. I had a pretty good experience with Tuscan Hills. There were a few times that I got irritated with them, but I generally expect that with contractors and suppliers. It was a much better experience than working with home improvement big box stores.

  3. Thank you for the info! I didn’t find a Carmen but I found Camden in the Ultimo line, and the Maple Butterscotch looks like yours – I didn’t find Caramel, but maybe you ordered a custom stain. Yes, I saw that some of your pieces are custom, very nice. I liked the Camden in the Ultimo line but when I saw the bid got sticker shock so am looking at the Classico line now. Your cabinets look such great quality…I was hoping they were a good reference for the Classico line! I wonder if the Classico line is as good….I have a phone appointment with Tuscan in 15 minutes. Again…I love the glass doors. I had 3 cabs of glass doors with glass backs in the kitchen I just tore out. Unusual situation, they were mounted on a ledge, and I had the glass backs put in so I could maintain the light and view beyond. My kitchen layout has little wall space for upper cabs. This time around I’m leaving it all open, and like I said before, will store dishes below. thanks again!

  4. NVM, I found the Caramel! Had a great conversation with Tuscan Hills this morning, and may be able to move back to the Ultimo line.

  6. Thank you for sharing your pictures. I’m in design process with Tuscan Hills. Have they changed color at all since you installed them? gotten darker?
Your kitchen looks gorgeous! Enjoy !

  7. Hello Geeky Girl,

Your kitchen it beautiful! How long did the whole process take from order to installation?

    • I think the lead time on the cabinets was about three months. The entire renovation took much longer though.

  8. How much, ball park, are you both spending on your cabinets? I am researching and looking at Costco since they have such a great return policy and therefore I love them. I also feel that Costco puts some weight behind their members, so I think suppliers will treat me better.
I am doing a large remodel and addition and have been floored by other quotes for cabinetry on line. I am hearing I should have about $60,000.00 for semi custom. That is the whole budget for the kitchen. The addition is the other $60,000 we have. I need to keep these cabinet costs down if I want appliances.
Also what do you know about the finish on these cabinets? They all look good new, but how do they stand up to sun exposure, steam, heat, normal wear and tear, I have read that some finishes dull and discolor around the handles after a few years.
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

    • I paid about $13,000. I love them. The doors are wood with a nice stain. I have had them for four years now, and I have no complaints. No sign of problems from normal kitchen use.

  9. thank you for sharing the pictures of your splash install. 🙂 Where did you get the back splash tile edging?
